Brick Lane Fashion

Sorry IQers! It's been a while! I've been in London for a few weeks and I've had the best time ever. I'm really enjoying being independent in London and embracing everybody's individuality, freedom of expression and style!

Brick Lane is an hip area in East London which have the most amazing Vintage Fashion and Food markets, and not to forget the amazing artistic graffiti around the area. Here is my outfit I wore, reminiscing the change to the autumn/winter season.

Leather Top - Zara Man
Roll Neck - Topman
Black Skinny Jeans - Topman
Tartan Scarf - Urban Outfitters
Boots - Zara Man

Let me know what you think about the edgy look. It was a departure from my usual style but I absolutely loved it.

And I also would like to share a fashion piece I bought from Old Spitalfields Market, which is just nearby.

Thank you, let me know what you think!

Country Gothic

So I decided to share my outfit with you all today to mark the end of the week. My TV Tributes will continue next week, but here is my latest outfit. This outfit is head-to-toe new! I called this post Country Gothic because I got the images taken in the English Countryside. My outfit is predominantly grey and black, which is very sophisticated. Although I personalised and embellished my outfit with loads of metal accessories.

I'm not into full on black, yet I loved the material of the top, the cotton is very thin yet keeps me warm. I love the effortless look. I paired the top with spray-on skinny jeans and boots.

Tell me what you think of this effortless yet stylish outfit. I love it. More posts coming in the next week. Let me know what you'd like to see! Would love some comments! X

TV Tribute: BREAKING BAD

So sorry for the delay, but this shoot was one of my favourites because I took the role of two iconic characters. Breaking Bad is such a brilliant show that deserved the Emmy on Sunday! I'm sad that it is finishing but I will carry on watching it again and again.

Breaking Bad focuses on Walter White (Bryan Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul). Walter's style is very teacher smart and seedy casual. I emphasised the acidic green due to the drug related storyline.

WALTER:
Military jacket - Topman
Acid shirt - Topman
Beige Chinos - Topman
Yellow Acid Socks - Topman
Acid Green Shoes - Zara Man

My other look was a departure from my usual style but also plays homage to jazzing up a chilled out look. My 'Jesse Pinkman' outfit was inspired by his common use of hoodies and sweats. I paired my mint green hoodie with a reptile skin bomber jacket and a metallic t-shirt representing blue crystal meth, overall washed out jeans and golden prism hi-tops! The look was a fashionable take on a meth-head!

JESSE:
Mint Green Hoodie - American Apparel
Metallic Tee - Zara Man
Reptile Bomber - TXNMY For Topman
Overall Jeans - Topman
Gold Hi-Tops - Dune

Thanks for the support so far. Hope you like this shoot. I may post some outtakes at the end of the week. Let me know what you think. Did I channel Walt White and Jesse Pinkman well?

Also, I urge you to check Breaking Bad out! It was the best recent decision I made! Thanks!

TV Tribute: Bates Motel

So, I'm doing something special this week regarding my photo shoot theme. My theme is TV tribute especially after the Emmy Awards which came on last night. Although I shouldn't but I do think the Emmy judges need to broaden their horizons and basically give every award to 'Breaking Bad' (best show ever).

Anyway, my first tribute to TV is the latest prequel to Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, 'Bates Motel'. I am obsessed in Hitchcock movies but I loved the idea of modernizing classic looks of the psychotic character that is Norman Bates! In this photo shoot I have mixed the classic Norman with a modern twist..

(Above: Anthony Perkins - Original Psycho)
This is a trend that I think is in fashion this autumn/winter season. TURTLENECKS are in style this season and be sure to pair it with a pair of grey skinny trousers for a moody tailored look. A hint of the white shirt enhances the look, making it sophisticated and casual at the same time.

THE OUTFIT:
Turtleneck top - Topman
Grey Ultra Skinny Trousers - Topman
White Shirt - Zara Man
Shoes - Aldo

Hope you let me know what you think. Any guesses of what TV show inspired photo shoot I will do next?

Thanks!

UMAR:STYLE IQ has Landed

Hi to all my IQers out there!

Welcome to my fashion blog, dedicated to menswear, style and trends.

My name is Umar Iqbal & this blog is called 'UMAR:STYLE IQ' because I think I  have knowledge of style to help inspire guys all over the world. I am deeply interested in fashion and I hope that comes across!

I decided to showcase my passion for style and I hope this blog appeals to all types of men, from around the world. I'm hard-working and motivated when it comes to showing you all what is in fashion.

So, just a little about myself and my inspirations. I have always been interested in fashion from a young age, from growing up with six older sisters who valued their individual style. Although growing up was difficult for me due to being overweight and this limited my fashion choices (I literally spent my childhood in baggy hoodies from 'GAP'), then during high school I was able to be myself and I took every opportunity during my non-uniform days to look good and dress to impress.
Many of my friends in college would say 'why do you make such an effort at school?' and I'd reply saying 'because where else would I make an effort? At the weekend? which I spend watching TV in my sweats? Exactly'.

I'm the type of guy who will make an effort at every occasion, and I even make the effort if I'm walking up the road to pick up some random groceries or a Starbucks. I hope I target all types of men when I post my blog because I hate being put in a 'box'. I like to try different styles, whether it is a classic look or a street style image. Although I'm quite young, I hope this blog appeals to an older man also, because one of my inspirations is old Hollywood film stars, I do think sometimes I may dress more maturely for my age, but looking smart is eternal and will always be in style.

I'm from the UK and no bias here, but us British peeps are very interested in fashion, and we all look pretty cool. I have many style icons ranging from all ages & backgrounds. Ranging from the eccentric Kanye West to David Beckam to Cary Grant. So you see my variety can expand.

This photo shoot was my first to celebrate the launch. It consisted of beauty shots inspired by photographer 'Terry Richardson'. I was also inspired by magazine covers & album covers.

I love being inspired by the past and taking inspiration whilst keeping the style very contemporary and modern. I love mixing the past & the present. Like my look (above) where I am wearing a simple white shirt with a bow tie, yet the bow tie is leather and metal (both from Topman).

Well, to celebrate the launch today, I am planning a surprise blog post every day of next week. I'll give you a hint, it involves a fashion twist on TV! It's very interesting and I'm currently shooting the interesting images now. I will also give you tips and hints on how to enhance your outfit.

So I hope guys (& girls) can help support me to help get the word out and you can also follow me on Twitter & Instagram   '@UmarIqbal_'

Much love to you all! x
